Wrapping up the college years prior to graduation is the Senior Awards Ceremony. I was awarded the Helen Miringoff Award for fieldwork at CNNMoney and the Man-Sheng Chen Scholarly Award for excellence in Chinese studies.
The fieldwork award is for my work at CNNMoney during the fall semester. It was an eventful and intense semester, with the onset of the financial crisis. During that time, I pitched and produced several video features. One of them is coverage of the college community’s reaction to the financial crisis. It received nomination for the Webby Awards, and Vassar wrote a press release about it here. |

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY—Matthew Leung, a senior at Vassar has been nominated for a 2009 Webby Award for the online video, "Financial Anxiety on Campus," which he produced as a CNNMoney.com intern in fall 2008. Called the "Internet's highest honor" by the New York Times, the Webby Awards are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. Leung’s video was one of three from CNN nominated for a Webby.

The domain TheTechnologyBeat.com used to be a website I created just for my radio show on WVKR "The Technology Beat." However, as the need for a comprehensive web presence with blogs emerged, I decided to use TheTechnologyBeat.com as the main portal to my online presence and put my radio show as a part of the site, so that the URL for my radio show is now TheTechnologyBeat.com/radio.

I am proud to lanuch my newest website, which is one of the most ambitious projects I've undertaken. This website is really five websites in one, and building it and designing all the components necessary for all different parts of the site have been arduous.
